So.. after 30 years of living in SoCal.. and a stressful career in Accounting Management... I'm following the ole man's dream... of becoming farmers.. lol.. off grid. The off grid aspect is working pretty well.. heck... I'm up at the wee hours on the computer starting a blog. Our solar system rocks! We're building a guest house where family and friends can visit and YES.. starting a garden.
Everything that grew at our Encinitas house was in spite of me... I overwater, underwater, over fertilize, under fertilize. Here I am in a place that pretty much grows on it's own.. rapidly. It's amazingly beautiful. I have 2 waterfalls in the back of the valley (more when it pours) and a river just 40 yards below us. On still nights, I hear the ocean crashing out front. I have more fruit than I know what to do with. Bananas and Papayas grow like weeds, lilikoi is wrapping itself up the deck, and the mango trees are as thick and tall as any great forest you can imagine.
In Cali I complained about the growth, the cars, the people... Here.. I complain about the roosters (that run wild and wake you up at 4:00 am)... I wonder how good they are roasted?
So, rather than laying on the coach with remote and cigarrette in hand.. I'm going to take a whack at blogging.. so in between the weed whacking, the fighting back the jungle vines with a machete, turning soil with a shovel (yes, we need a rototiller... hard to find here), I can relax and let the sweat dry.. talking to YOU. I'll post plenty of pics of our progress because... really... that's probably what you want to see... and share this grand adventure we're calling ACT THREE. Aloha nui
